A soccer ball has a circular shape,
and its weight is approximately 1kg. When you hit this ball with your foot, it
bounces up. It can’t bounce down. Therefore, when someone misses the ball, he
or she hits it from the side. In some cases, we call that bounce.
In most normal situations, if you go
out in the middle of the pitch, then you will try not to shoot it down. But on
special occasions like goals, many players get away with this. They kick it
back into the net. As soon as they make this move, however, they are lucky.
The goalkeepers who play against
this goal are in trouble because the goalkeeper kicks the ball forwards. These
teams’ goalkeepers also face an opponent team whose goalkeeper kicks a
throwback. So, even though nobody cares what the other player throws at them,
the goalkeeper cannot escape responsibility if they kick the ball backward. How
does it work? The goalie kicks the ball back in the direction where it came
from. But if two teams’ goalkeepers do this, then both teams have conceded.
We call this type of shot
“punch-and-grab” or “punching and striking”. Both types of shots can be used by
defenders to cover their strikers to avoid scoring. However, in general,
“punching and strikes” is more dangerous for a striker than an attacking
midfielder. Only one side can score a goal, but this is usually when one side
attacks aggressively. During a long training session, which lasts four hours,
the attack may come fast and furiously without knowing exactly when it will
break through any defense. And the opposing defense will try to intercept the
ball but is unable to catch it in time. The attacker gets the ball deep inside
his attacking midfielder and shoots the team’s goalkeeper in front.
One thing I will take away from this
example is that every team in football needs its own set of rules. Each season,
different clubs will introduce new rules and regulations that are important to
their specific games. Some clubs want to keep things simple and straightforward
to manage. Then there are other clubs that want the best possible results.
That’s why they try to add all kinds of rules and regulations. There are even
so-called governing bodies that establish the legal system of the sport. Here
we can see another example of these rules.
First of all, let’s talk about
football’s technical rules, and it includes the basic laws. The first rule is
called “goalkeeper rules”. Basically, a field is a closed space, like an area
or court. One player doesn’t enter the field until the referee puts him in.
Another player can use their hands to reach the ball in order to return it.
Even if the ball goes past, only one person is allowed to touch it.
The second rule means “pushing the
ball out of a field”. Also known as “defending man”. For instance, when one man
pushes the ball out of the playing field, the other side is able to move
forward by simply moving towards the center position. Every forward movement
happens behind the first one. Moreover, he has no power from the outside. In
addition, every defender still holds his feet close together, although the play
is not yet finished.
One of football’s main rules is to
protect the opponent's team’s goal. To do so the midfielders try and clear the
way towards the opposite side’s goal. If the defensive team doesn’t have enough
players and/or equipment, then they should hold the midfielders responsible, so
they can attack.
One last law is called “defensive
movement”. For instance, if a player wants to move towards a goal, he can just
shift his body towards the center of the field, right before the goal.
Otherwise, he is trying to defend himself.
All these rules of football can be
found in every game. After football’s rules are set up, sometimes we need to
consider everything. We want to look further into the details.
So, let’s start with our FIFA rules.
